Exhibition Text
"Conscious / Unconscious" exhibition in Berlin, August 2018; Installation at Terrassenhaus, June 2019 Conscious / Unconscious is a collaborative art exhibit, exploring the parallels between human conscious formation and unconscious impact by natural elements. This is showcased in various sculptures and canvases created using not only natural materials, but also chemical, humanly created substances. This relationship between fabric, texture, chemistry, gravity and weight shows not only the differences between conscious and unconscious creation, but also the paradox that lies within them. The pieces are heavily inspired by the beauty of nature, imperfection, real life interaction with textures, forms and textiles, rather than only a screen. The invisible space is made visible through well thought out conscious decisions. The touch of human craft brings a sense of emotion and contemplation. To capture this unique dialogue of taste, ideas and visions, the pieces were chemically treated and hardened into sculptures that in the end, took on a shape of their own, regardless of the human interaction that birthed them. This work celebrates this special moment in time and builds a visual link to the past, present and future.
