Profil is the comprehension of one particular moment. It articulates the feeling of hovering between the past and the future, between everything and nothing. This very moment of cognition releases a cosmic force that lets the viewer transcend. Due to countless impressions and stimuli that our nervous system has to process in today’s society, our mind often relies on experiences in order to orient our actions towards familiar situations. Contemplating the sculpture triggers a similar mental reaction. While we are still approaching Profil, our subconscious has already programmed an experience. For each and every moment, we carry expectations within ourselves. If we touch Profil, we will recognize the illusion that our subliminal self has created and find ourselves in the unknown. The interaction with the sculpture enables us to overcome cognitive boundaries and become present. We begin to understand how much our organism is automated. By physically experiencing Profil, we create a moment of extension between our past and our future. Thus, a cosmos opens up in which we are able to examine our behavioral patterns and conventions. Through this realization, we are able to evolve as human beings.
